Fly by wire system on the B737NG? - answer! Answers
Fly by wire system on the B737NG?The A320, A380, B777 and B787 have fly by wire systems. Why wouldn't boeing implement this system in 737 aswell? They chose to make the next generation 737 with the conventional system as far as I am concern. But why??
Additional DetailsBut what about the different aspects of the fly by wire systems; Weight reduction, safety and accuracy, maintenance costs reduction and the durability. Those would be really good upgrades for an airplane, especially saving in fuel consumption or increasing the passenger capacity. Wouldn't that increase the productivity for Boeing?
6 months ago Best Answer - Chosen by AskerThe one massive reason why Boeing does not have fly by wire on their 737's or any other airplanes is because of trust in their pilots. Boeing has constantly showed their trust for pilots because of this: If lets say drastic action needs to be taken in an airplane, Boeing believes placing trust in a human is much more important then an electronic interface. Airbus on the other hand firmly believes in quick computer based actions instead of too much pilot control. This is why airliners like fly by wire: because they want to get pilots out of the system. You will also notice that a pilot in a boeing does alot more with a yoke then an airbus pilot. This key reason is why pilots prefer Boeing. So do I, although, airbus is stellar too. And naturally, why fix something not needing to be fixed? Good Question!
