Car battery indicator light turned on while driving, please help hurry? - answer! Answers

Car battery indicator light turned on while driving, please help hurry?

Battery light on the dashboard turned on while driving awhile ago. When I got home, I turned off the engine, then turned it on again, the battery light didn't go off like it's supposed to.

Does the battery need to be replaced or is something wrong with the alternator?

The light means your alternator isn't generating electricity. When this happens you are running on battery only. So you need to conserve the battery (shut off everything you don't need) and get home. The car will die when the battery runs down where ever you are.

Its either the belt isn;t turning the alternator, the regulator in the alternator, or the alternator.

Make sure the belt is tight and not slipping. Then get the alternator checked.
