**How To Put A Serpentine Belt On A 1998 FORD TAURUS No Tensioner?

Can someone give me specific/detailed information on "How To Put A Serpentine Belt On A 1998 FORD TAURUS" Please give actual pictures, and show the exact nuts and bolts i am working with.

I believe that mine does not have a tensioner as i spent all of 9 hours trying to put my belt back on and i just couldnt find a way to get some slack..

1. is this tensioner just one bolt or is it a seperate machine
2. do i need to crank the bolt (or whatever it is) multiple times for the tensioner to loosen

3. is their specific directions on how to handle my belt if i actually no longer have a tensioner but i am supposed to have one.

Please only make pictures, and answers specific to a 1998 ford taurus 3.0

Please help quickly...

yes there is a small picture under my hood but it is absolutely horrible. it doesnt give much detail at all.

and yes i do believe a guy that i let work on my car in the past probably broke the tensioner off.

Above link from Auto Zone gives you exactly what you'll need. If you don't have a tensioner it has to be because you or someone else removed it. These instructions call for a special tool to release the tensioner but sometimes you can improvise with tools you already have. Replacement of the belts is normally fairly straightforward.
